Book Review and Giveaway: Fresh From The Garden

Congrats to Jane, #2 comment! If you didn’t win, check out my new giveaway today! Thanks for dropping by.

GIVEAWAY!! CHECK THIS OUT!

It’s been a while since I’ve had any giveaways. However, in the next couple of weeks I will be catching up with all of my book reviews and will be giving some of those books away. Please check back.

This first giveaway this year is Fresh from the Garden by Dodi Lee Poulsen of Two Sisters at Squirrel Hollow. This book includes 16 quick and easy home decor quilting projects.

Published in 2011 by Landauer Press, this 80-page booklet includes complete patterns and step-by-step instructions for each of the projects with illustrations, diagrams and full-color photos.

Poulsen divides her book into collections: Life’s a Picnic, Give Peas a Chance, Green Thumb, and Punkin. She starts the book out with general instructions from seam allowances and mitered borders to binding. Most of those topics are illustrated making it easy for even those of us with little quilting experience or sewing experience.

Her collections include patterns for quilts, totes, pillows, napkins, placemats and table runners, purses, an apron, and even a hat. Each project lists the fabric requirements, cutting guide, how to prepare the fabric and lots of illustrations so we won’t get lost.

This is really a fun quilting book. She uses such bright and fun fabrics. Her projects look like fun, but I especially like her picnic tote. It is so cute! If you are a quilter or would like to make some quilted projects, this would be great for your library or a great gift for a sewing friend. The directions are easy to follow and easy on the readers’ eyes.

Fresh from the Garden retails for $24.95 and is available from your favorite bookstore or quilt shop, or online at Landauer Publishing.

Now for the giveaway, if you’d like to have a chance to win this book, comment on this blog post. Commenting via email, on Open Salon or Creating the Hive will NOT enter you in this contest. You must comment to this blog post on the Bloombakecreate blog to be entered in the giveaway. The deadline for this giveaway is Monday, February 20, 2012 at 8 a.m. CST. Due to postage costs, this giveaway is only available for US residents. :-( Good Luck!
