What’s Buzzing Here

This spring is just zipping by. So much to do and so far behind. But on to what’s going on here or what’s buzzing.

We now have bees.

Walking down to the hive

Walking down to the hive

The hive is located down by the cherry trees. We buried Shel near the hive so they could watch over her. The bees like lemon balm so Dave will be planting some of it over her grave.

Speaking of Shel, while going through papers yesterday I found her last weight prior to her last day. She had lost over a pound in six months, way too much for a kitty. I didn’t realize how much she was drinking even though I was filling up the water bowl every time I walked through the kitchen. And the litter – my little duty has changed dramatically! I still clean it every day, but it’s not such a big deal. Poor Shel, her kidneys were working overtime. I know now that decision, although painful, was the right thing to do.

Sidd and Puddin are adjusting fine.

Here they are sharing a meal. Sidd is the one on the left with the curly tail. Sidd is a momma’s boy, but since Shel has been gone he’s changed into spending time with Dave. He NEVER sat with Dave before.

Otherwise, got plants ready for the plant sale and delivered them. I always like to provide the sale with some of my different irises. I also dig up some other stuff. I usually dig them up 4 – 6 weeks before the sale so they are established. SWIMGA, our master gardener group, had a great sale. The profits go to fund our various projects in the community.

Then those scones were a hit at the garden club meeting earlier this month.

I used the basic recipe and just added changes. I liked the cherry chocolate chip scones best. However, when I make them again, I’ll leave out the chocolate chips. They overpower the cherries which I really wanted to taste.

Well, that’s a bit of an update of what’s buzzing here. I still have several craft projects to post when time allows. It’s time to head out to the new shade area to weed and mulch. Have a great weekend!
