Tatting with Dorcas

This week’s interview for my Telling Your Story column in The Evansville Courier & Press was with Evansville resident Dorcas Newkirk and her love of shuttle tatting. See her story HERE. (Link not up yet.)

When Dorcas taught school, she liked to display this flag on her classroom door.

Dorcas gave me this sweet flag pin. It’s only 1.5 inches x 2 inches.

I’m hoping my article in our paper will encourage others locally to learn to tat. Dorcas will teach a class at Stitches From The Heart (812- 437-1320) if there is enough interest. If they already know how to tat they can join the River City Tatting Club in Evansville, Indiana which meets the second Saturday of the month at noon at the Oaklyn Library. I’d hate for this beautiful craft to die.
