Print and Stamp Lab Review and Giveaway

GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED. CONGRATULATIONS TO Bethany who won this great book.

Stay tuned for more craft book giveaways!

I love books that are mini workshops. This book is one of those. When I received this book, I just had to run into my “cave” and make some of these stamps. But let me tell you a little bit about the book first. Oh, and by the way, I’m giving this copy away. Read on for information on the giveaway.

Print & Stamp Lab by Traci Bunkers

This book includes 52 ideas for handmade, upcycled print tools. Traci, an artist and workshop instructor, takes her love of stamping and turns common household items into printing blocks, stamps, or tools. She starts with the basics – base materials for making stamps and printing blocks, adhesives, paints and equipment. If you do any kind of crafting, you will have most of this stuff laying around the house.

The 52 labs in this book are organized into four different units which each cover a specific printing or stamping tool. I was amazed at all of the different “ordinary” things she used to create so many different designs. Every lab includes photos with detailed instructions and helpful tips. From foam beads to flip flops, any crafter will find a medium they’ll like to work with. The last chapter is a colorful gallery of projects from stationery to purses that use techniques from the labs.

I decided to first try and make a stamp from some flip flops. Traci recommends buying extra large ones so you have lots of material to make a variety of stamps.

Flip Flop Stamp

The rubber already had a great pattern, but I decided to add some can openers for a bit more of interest.

Pom Pom Stamp

This pom pom stamp is made with pom poms attached to foamcore covered with foam mounting tape. I like the background it created.

Now on to rubber bands.

Rubber Band Stamp

I thought I’d take her idea and attach rubber bands to a styrofoam piece. Love the pattern it made.

This book is great for exploring and using those things you have around the house, in the recycle bin, or even in the trash. I liked that this was one of those books where I didn’t have to buy anything to make stamps, although I did buy the flip flops just to see how they would do.  The pattern ideas are endless.

If you love stamping, recycling, and creating, this is the book for you. And I will be giving this copy away to one of my lucky readers. All you need to do is comment on this post, making sure you leave your email. I will use random.org to pick the winner. The giveaway will end Wednesday, July 28 at 6 pm CST.

Good Luck! Oh, in case you don’t win, this book can be purchased from qbookshop.com
